I used to live in Cardiff and still have friends there, so whenever I head to Wales on some of my photographic trips, I'll always stop in Cardiff en route. My favourite place to visit is Roath Park, near where I used to live, as there's so much to see in and around the lake, especially in springtime. This year was a little different to my last visit as I got to see another side to some of the birds - the more aggressive side! Two coots began fighting, which was very noisy and dramatic. I also witnessed an adult mute swan rape a juvenile almost to the point of drowning it. It was very disturbing and sad to see and I was willing it to safety. Thankfully, after about fifteen minutes, the younger swan managed to clamber out of the lake in absolute exhaustion.
